#10 Real Feminisms

Meet Billiam, a Youtuber who makes videos about toys. Yes, toys! But he just doesn't play with them, he explains their history and goes over the fad of the era of where the toy comes from. In this video, he talks about the company "Girl Tech." A company made by a woman named Janiece Swanson, a software developer, and toy inventor. Tiered by companies stealing her ideas, she decided to start her own toy company. She is basically responsible for the girl tech toy fad of the '90s. Proving that girls o in fact like science and technology just as much as boys do. I wanted some of her toys, and even one of my older sisters got one of the password journals for Christmas when we were kids. To me, these were just cool ways to communicate with other people, but these toys were so much more than that. They brought technology to girls who did not really have an outlet for it and were an introduction to software development. I would spend time as a kid trying to understand how the toys worked and how could I use them. I wonder how many people used these toys and ended up in engineering or software development. I suggest checking out Billiam's channel if you are feeling nostalgic for old or even new toys. He is funny and informative about the toys he reviews.
